Cross country skiing in Großarl
Großarl has a cross country network of 30 km and has a high altitude cross country course
Cross country skiing is also enjoyed in Großarl. The network of cross country tracks in the Großarl valley includes a region of approx. 30 km of superior prepared tracks. The complete distance is traced in classic style and additionally a lot of the tracks have been prepared in skating style. The tracks follow along "the Ache" in Großarl in a southerly direction until Hüttschlag and from the centre of the village of Hüttschlag further to the end of the valley in Hüttschlag. This is where you can retire to refresh yourselves at Gasthof Talwirt or in Aschaustüberl .
Something new for the winter of 2007, the higher altitude course in Großarl. In the area of Saukaralm a 3 km long , wonderful high course has been prepared. The tracks and the Saukaralm are open for use on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday (please enquire when weather conditions are bad). The Saukaralm is a secret tip for hikers, walkers, snow schoe hikers and taboggan users!
Transfer to the high altitude Saukaralm:
Times: 10.30, 13.00 going up, 13.15 and 16.00 down to the valley.
Pick up: Departs village centre/Unterberg, respectively along the way
Cost: cost for the transfer /return: € 10,--/Person
Miscellaneous: Registration is necessary up to 3 hrs before departure;
